Danville is a beautiful and populous city in eastern Illinois. It is positioned in Vermilion County and serves as the seat of government to the county. According to the United States Census Bureau, Danville was populated by approximately 31,597 people in 2016. Danville is the largest city in Vermilion County. 

Danville is a city with a rich history. It was founded in 1827 when Guy W. Smith and Dan W. Beckwith donated the land that Danville sits upon. In May of the same year, the first post office was opened in Danville. The city is named in honor of Dan W. Beckworth, a founding member of the city who helped construct the first map of Danville.
